Introduction
The Blue Triangle portal left-side navigation menu is going to be changing. You may see this new and improved menu in our UAT environment. If not, you will be seeing this as an option very soon. Reach out to your BT representative if you have any questions.
Included in this update will be the following menu features:
- Search
- Favorites (with optional defaults)
- Redesigned Full Menu
- Renamed and Restructured Menu Options
What to Expect
When you first log into the portal with the new navigation menu, you will see these favorites by default. Click here to view how to add and update your favorites. To view the complete new menu, click the "View Full Menu" button. Some pages and modules have been moved, see this section below for the details.
Opting Out
If you are not interested in trying the new menu yet, for now you are able to select the "View Legacy Menu" option at the bottom of the menu options.
*Note: If you saved any favorites, by switching to the legacy menu you will lose your pinned favorites. If you switch back to the new menu, your menu will be set back to the default values.
The Search Function
At the top of the menu, you will find a search bar. Start typing the page name you're looking for, and relevant pages will start populating the search result. Feel free to click on any of the results in order to navigate there.
*Note: In V1, you will not be able to search by data type/branch (i.e RUM, Synthetic, etc). Instead search for the page name itself, like Performance Detail or Overview.
Favorites
With the improved menu, users are able to pin their favorite portal pages. The favorites function allows users to customize their most useful pages or menu branches so those are easily accessible.
Default Favorites
Users visiting the portal for the first time, will find a set of pages that were designed to their use case:
- General users
- Users who are focused on Real User Insights
- Users who are focused on Synthetic measurements
- Users who are focused on Mobile Real User Insights
In addition, dedicated persona-based default links are available, for the following personas:
- Product Managers
- Marketing Managers
- Engineers
Note: The functionality (apply defaults to the favorites section) is available at any time. When a user applies a default to their favorite section, it will overwrite any other items in that menu.
Adding/removing items from the favorites section
To add an element to the favorites section, visit the expanded menu and select the pin icon.
To remove an element from the favorites section, visit the favorites section and unselect the pin icon.
When a user adds a branch to the favorites section, all of its children will be added as well.
When a user unselects a branch from the favorites section any children that are favorited will replace the branch as the top favorited level.
