Evaluation of Completed Tests
Completed synthetic tests are evaluated every 60 seconds. Multi-step monitors, however, will only be evaluated once the all steps have completed, or failed. This can sometimes take several minutes, and it's why we recommend reducing the number of steps for monitors where possible.
The evaluation window configured in the alert will also significantly influence when an alert is triggered.
For example, if the last five pages of a multi step monitor with 10 steps time out, there can be a five to six minute delay in when the alert is triggered.
Error State Tracking Alerts
The evaluation period is determined by the "Time Rolling Window" which can be set between 15 minutes and 24 hours. You decide when these alerts are triggered in the configuration menu based on the number of failures and node locations.
For multi-step monitors, you can select the specific steps the alert applies to.
Controlling Error Codes
To control what error codes on these failures send an alert, go to the Synthetic Code page (not available to all users) to toggle off/on the "Send Alert" option for the individual code.
Regular Alerts
Performance Alert
You select the desired performance metric to monitor. An alert will trigger based on the configured evaluation window and metric thresholds.
Test Failure Alert
This Alert type allows you to track overall Synthetic Site Health. The evaluation period is determined by the "Time Rolling Window" which can be set between 15 minutes and 24 hours. You decide when these alerts are triggered in the configuration menu based on the number of failures and node locations.
