Central Data Repositories are data tables that enable Real Browser Synthetic Scripts to perform iterations using different data. Each time the script runs, the next row of data in the data table will be used.
Central Data Repositories can be configured by an Account Admin or higher. To configure a Central Data Repository, go to the "Synthetic Monitoring" section of the menu, and click "Manage". From here, select "Central Data Repositories" in the Synthetic section of Settings & Administration.
To create a Central Data Repository, upload a CSV or JSON. This will create a table where the values can be edited if desired. Additionally, at the head of each column, there is a lock button. The lock button can be used to mask/encrypt sensitive data. If the column is locked, once saved, it can not be unlocked to reveal the values. These values will also be safe from appearing in any synthetic test logs.
Central Data Repositories can also be shared by departments in the same account. An Account Admin can select which departments have access to a data repository. If no departments are selected, the data repository will be available to all departments in the account.
To use a Central Data Repository, it must be linked to a Real Browser Synthetic Script. The data repository can be added using a dropdown when creating or editing a synthetic script to select the data repository you want to add. Next, the user must select the "CDR Value?" checkboxes to specify the value will come from the data repository. Once this box is checked, a dropdown will appear in the value field, which allows the user to select the column to retrieve the values from. Please note: Once a data repository is linked to a synthetic script, the data repository cannot be deleted unless it is unlinked from the script.
Once the script is saved, add the script (or new version of the script) to a Multi-Step Real Browser Monitor. The monitor will now run the script, using data from a different row each time, in the order they appear in the table.
